Doctor Hortense Faye-Kette is Professor of Microbiology in particular on Bacteriology and Virology at Medical Sciences school, University Felix Houphouet-Boigny in Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire. Medical Doctor, she received her PhD in microbiology in 2009. She headed laboratory of Bacteriology-Virology of the University Hospital of Yopougon, Abidjan. She is currently the chief of the National Reference Laboratory on STI at Institut Pasteur de Cote d’Ivoire. Her work on biodiversity of genital flora on women in Cote d’Ivoire, contributed to understand the role played by pathogens such as Neisseria gonorrhoeae, Chlamydia trachomatis, Mycoplasma genitalium, Haemophilus ducreyi, Treponema pallidum, Herpesvirus. She has also developed the national Neisseria gonorrhoae antimicrobial resistance surveillance in Cote d’Ivoire.
Professor Faye-Ketté has participated in the development of policy, strategies and other national documents for different levels of medical laboratories in Cote d’Ivoire: national strategic plans, operational plans, package of laboratory activities, standardization of laboratory equipment, reference manual for HIV tests evaluation, development of technical documents, laboratory standards, procedures, etc. As head of the national reference laboratory on STI, she led the development of essential reagents list for diagnosis of STIs and opportunistic infections in AIDS. She is member of medical laboratory technical working group in Cote d’Ivoire. She has a long experience on medical laboratory management specially on microbiology. She assists and coach regional laboratories in Côte d’Ivoire in various areas of the laboratory system : infrastructure, supply chain management, equipment management, human resources management, quality implementation, Biosecurity -Biosecurity. She also assists virological laboratories at Institut Pasteur de Cote d’Ivoire for outbreaks detection.
